Park Avenue School Composting Program

With the support of a grant from the Lewiston Auburn Children’s Foundation, Park Ave. is working with a company called We Compost It!  This company picks up all of the food waste generated at Park Ave. each day (about 200 pounds per day) and they compost it into soil that can be purchased by farmers.  Through their support, we are keeping about 1000 pounds of waste out of the trash system each week!  The students and staff are working hard to support this program and to encourage recycling in as many ways as possible at Park Ave.

Field Day

Field Day/A New Look!

This year Field Day is going to put the “field” back into the day. Our new format is quite different than previous years and we are hoping for a more physically active day for the health of our students. All events will be outside on the field or playground. You are invited to attend and watch (bring a lawn chair if you like) from the sidelines. Also, we encourage you to put sunscreen on your child(ren) prior to coming to school, even on a cloudy day skin needs protection. Students will be having their regular lunch schedule so there will NOT be an opportunity to eat with them this year. Students are also encouraged to bring a water bottle for the day.  Please make sure their name is marked on it. We are looking forward to an enjoyable fun filled event! Field Day will be broken up into three sections. Each grade span (K-2; 3-4; 5-6) will have their own timeframe for the activities. This will allow for optimum activity & fun!

Day 1 Monday June 18, 2018 8:45am -11am Grades 5-6

Day 1 Monday June 18,2018 12:15 – 2:30 Grades K-2

Day 2 Tuesday June 19, 2018 8:45am -11am Grades 3-4
